The purposes of this study were to establish the toxicological indices(LD_(50)) values and histopathological changes) of carbon tetrachloride(CCh) in Oryzias latipes.
The results are summarized as follows:
1. The LD_(50) value of carbon tetrachloride in Oryzias latipes was 41.6㎎/ℓ at 48 hours after exposure, and confidence range of 95% were 37.2∼48.8㎎/ℓ. The lethality were increased in proportion to exposure concentration of carbon tertachloride and to lapse of exposure time.
2. Vaculolization incidences of liver cell in control, 10.6, 18.0, 30.5, 51.9, and 88.2㎎/ℓ concentration groups were 1, 3, 3, 5, 5, and 5 of 5 in each group, respectively. Incidences of fatty degeneration were 0, 2, 3, 5, 5 and 5, respectively and glycogen accumulation incidences were 4 and 5 in control and all exposure groups, respectively.
In conclusiouns, the toxicity of carbon tertachloride in Oryzias latipes appeared at nearly ㎎/ℓ concentration and carbon tetrachloride-induced phases of histopathological alterations of liver cell were observed in relatively low concentration.
